Why choose energy storage systems?

Energy storage

Energy storage is often called the “holy grail” of energy. It’s regularly touted as a solution to fixing our ageing power grid, a critical tool in increasing the spread of renewable energy, and a bridge between the needs of utilities and their customers.

The top 4 benefits of getting your company to adopt energy storage system technologies:

  1. Zero fuel and CO2 emissions
  2. Zero noise
  3. Lower running costs, resulting in improved cost of ownership
  4. Ideal for emergency backup solutions

Atlas Copco Power Technique is developing innovative designs to help partners achieve a greater level of sustainability and optimise operation in the process. The way we consume, produce and store energy is changing. There is a shift towards finding sustainable solutions and Atlas Copco understands companies are looking for a cost-efficient way to address the challenge.

Without compromising on power, the ZenergiZe lithium-ion batteries enable a new level of flexibility and sustainability. This innovative solution presents a new way to store, manage and use energy.

The ZenergiZe range enables operators to reduce emissions and fuel consumption in every application. For example, among the operating modes of energy storage systems, it works in hybrid mode, the Zenergize reduces emissions of a standalone generator up to 50 per cent. This translates to approximately 100 tonnes of CO2 being equivalent to 450 trees. However, if it works as a standalone power solution with a renewable energy source, it can eliminate up to 100 per cent of CO2 emissions.

One main advantage inherent to this energy source is lack of noise. Unlike generators, where the sound of the engine cannot be eliminated, ZenergiZe batteries operate silently in island mode. This will help operator comply with regulations at construction sites and other noise-free environments such as events.

Another advantage is that the lithium-ion batteries have a lifespan of 40,000 hours with an overload capability of 200 per cent. The ZenergiZe unit work under high and low ambient temperatures from -15C to +50C. This minimises maintenance needs during the battery energy storage’s lifecycle, helping operators achieve optimal uptime.

Planning for emergency backup power is an essential part of a resilience plan. Historically, commercial and industrial facilities have invested significantly in local emergency backup infrastructure. With advanced storage solutions on the market today, there may be opportunities to upgrade this infrastructure to provide not only emergency backup, but also a host of other money-saving and money-making solutions.

The new ZenergiZe range from Atlas Copco takes modular energy storage to a new level.
