Rammer, the leading supplier of smart rockbreaker technology, is steadily working to improve its sustainability with an aim to become the clear, recognised industry leader in the space.
As part of Sandvik, Rammer is committed to working towards a more sustainable future. During the last couple of years, Rammer has reduced its CO2 emissions by half, improved recyclability throughout its value chain and prioritised sustainability in its product development.
As part of continuous process improvement Rammer is minimising waste and increasing recycling rates.
The steel in every Rammer rockbreaker is 100 per cent recyclable and earlier this year Rammer started to recover packaging and have returned over 12,000 kilgrams of plywood packaging to its suppliers for re-use.
Rammer factory in Finland uses 100 per cent carbon-free green heat
Reducing carbon footprint and emissions at Rammer’s factory sites is a vital part of the sustainability plan.
This year Rammer factory will have reduced 500 tonnes of its CO2 emissions from energy consumption, halving its emissions compared to previous year.
And that’s only the start. Since the Rammer factory has also switched to clean CO2 electricity and uses 100 per cent carbon-free green heat that means that the heating of the Rammer factory site is completely emission free.
Responsible sourcing throughout the value-chain and environmentally friendly product innovations
Responsible sourcing throughout the value chain is a big part of improving sustainability so that Rammer customers can always trust in the products they choose and that their purchases are sourced from responsibly managed resources and suppliers.
“Including sustainability into product development is not just something we do – it’s how we think,” said Matti Kotro, director of Product Lifecycle Management for Sandvik.
“We believe that sustainability should concern the way your products are designed and developed.
“For us it’s a mindset: we strive towards making environmentally friendly product innovations for mining industry with our green range products, such as the Bio Tool Grease that was launched earlier this year,”
