Mining engineering and technology company Weir has announced its acquisition of SentianAI, a Swedish-based developer of AI (artificial intelligence) solutions.

SentianAI’s solutions aim to optimise the performance in minerals processing. The company was founded in 2016 and is based in Malmö, Sweden.

The SentianAI team uses advanced AI algorithms that learn and adapt to the mining processes, providing continuous improvement and optimisation.

Weir Group chief executive officer Jon Stanton said the acquisition will allow the company to accelerate its technology roadmap and expand its digital capabilities.

“Digital technology has an important role in helping address the challenges of declining ore grades, production efficiency, and CO2 emissions for our customers,” Stanton said.

“SentianAI’s advanced software solutions complement and will bridge our Synertrex and Motion Metrics technologies well.

“Together, these will enable us to provide holistic performance monitoring and optimisation for smart, efficient and sustainable mining. We welcome SentianAI’s team of experts to Weir.”
