THE Royal Flying Doctor Service helped save the life of a miner who was thrown from the truck he was driving after it overturned South of Cosmic Bay minesite in September last year.
The man was seriously injured when he lost control of the 4WD Toyota Hino on Marvel Lock road.
According to the Western Australia Department of Consumer and Employment Protection (DOCEP) safety and health alert [No. 02/2008], the driver was travelling at excessive speeds and had not been wearing a seatbelt when the incident occurred.
The alert also said the miner had been working for 14 days straight.
The DOCEP has made several recommendations.
