Two leading safety innovators are banding together to push forward developments to measure underground gases and promote coal mine safety.
Coal Mines Technical Services and Dynamic Technologies have joined to provide a one-stop gas monitoring service so mines may avoid dangerous situations resulting from dangerous gas levels.
Dyanmic Technologies director Tony Porter said the collaboration will provide mines with more information and services so they can access information and technology at one place.
“We will take an overall look at underground gas monitoring so we can supply a whole package of equipment to benefit the industry,” he told MINING DAILY.
The collaboration will develop systems that analyse underground gas samples and provide officers with up-to-date information to take averting action if dangerous levels are recorded.
“The technology will minimize the chance of fire and injury by informing managers of exact underground conditions and enabling them to remove workers from dangerous areas when necessary,” he said.
Porter said the technology has “significantly” improved safety levels in recent years and expects it will be incorporated to underground mines as standard practice in coming years.
“This technology has immensely increased safety levels and this collaboration will enable us to move the technology forward and allow things to happen more automatically in Australian mines.”
