Underground digital communication

MINE Site Technologies (NSW) will display several new technologies, including its ImPact underground digital communication network, ICCL cap lamp with radio and 802.11b RFID tag, and Proximity Detection System, on Stand 1825 at AIMEX 2007.

The 802.11b/g-based ImPact Wi-Fi underground digital communication network allows a mine’s WLAN to be taken underground, supporting the wireless use of PDAs and VoIP phones.

The network also allows the real-time downloading of vehicle diagnostics and load data.

The latest lightweight Integrated Communications Cap Lamp (ICCL) can include a VHF or UHF radio, a PED Pager and/or an 802.11b UHF RFID Tag. The Proximity Detection System uses a vehicle-mounted Reader and Processing Unit that detects the RFID tag worn by underground miners.
