Underground coal mining feature

AUSTRALIAN Mining invites editorial contributions and story ideas for its review of underground coal mining operations from 1908-2008 in the February 2008 issue.

The feature is part of a special series of features celebrating the centenary of the magazine, and will review the most influential operations, technologies, and individuals in underground coal mining.

The feature will commemorate coal’s rich history with regional spotlights exploring Australia’s most iconic regions, including New South Wales’ Southern Coalfields, the Hunter, and Central Queensland. It will also profile the most important regions and events in underground coal with archived images and editorial, and look at the highs and lows of this exciting industry, steeped in tradition.

This feature will examine the root causes of accidents during movement of materials, redesign and developing equipment, and how accidents can be avoided.

Hear from leading manufacturers of the latest bulk materials handling equipment, and discover how the latest handling technology can time and money.
