Trelleborg has launched a new line of high-quality polyurethane (PU) seals in inch sizes for light- medium- and heavy-duty hydraulic cylinders and other linear hydraulic applications.
The PU line, comprising piston, rod, and buffer seals and wipers, is designed for use in original equipment and for retrofit to common American groove sizes to accommodate the manufacture and refurbishment of hydraulic cylinders in fluid power and off-highway applications.
Beth Figliulo, segment manager for Fluid Power, says: “The PU product line complements our existing polytetrafluoroethylene seal package for piston and rod seals. With a wide range of common PU seal sizes in stock and available for quick delivery, we now offer the market a single source for fluid power and off-highway sealing solutions backed by local engineering support, R&D resources, and testing facilities.
“We also provide a variety of digital tools to help design engineers specify sealing solutions for both dynamic and static applications. In addition, our logistics and ServicePLUS centers provide full-service options for assembly and kitting. The PU seals and wipers are suitable for common hydraulic applications with typical pressures of 3,000 psi, temperatures from -30 °F to +230 °F and speeds up to 1.5 ft/s using standard mineral oils. Zurcon® premium-grade PU material options are available for synthetic oils, fire-resistant fluids, and biodegradable fluids.
