Toro Energy’s Wiluna uranium project has entered the public exhibition phase of assessment.
The miner is the first of Western Australia’s uranium projects to reach this point.
From next Monday Toro will release its Environmental Impact Statement and associated documentation for its environmental strategies and detailed technical study reports.
The documents will be on public exhibition for 14 weeks.
Members of the public will be invited by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to review and comment on the impact statements, after which Toro will submit a final EIS following consideration of the comments.
During the exhibition period, Toro will also hold information days at Wiluna, Leonora, Menzies and Kalgoorlie.
The miner is currently focused on completing its technical work on the project, including a pilot process plant which will begin construction soon.
It is aiming to complete a definitive feasibility study for the Wiluna uranium project by April next year.
Toro is aiming to start on-ground construction by late 2012 and initial commissioning production by late 2013, with first uranium sales in 2014.
