Teen arrested over Tinkler car theft

An arrest has been made over the theft of mining magnate Nathan Tinkler’s luxury car.

NSW Police confirmed a 17-year-old has been arrested at Merewether in Newcastle over multiple vehicles stolen from the area.

He was arrested about 3am today to face questioning.

Police would not provide further details, but it is believed Tinkler’s black Ferrari California is included in the number of cars stolen.

The vehicle was taken from the garage of Tinkler’s home while he, his wife and two children slept on the night of 25 June.

It was found the following day, torched in bushland near Raymond Terrace.

Thieves also escaped with laptops, watches and a camera.
