Suvo completes Muchea silica sand acquisition

Suvo Strategic Minerals has announced that the tenement purchase for an exploration license at the Muchea silica sand project has now been completed.

Located 50 kilometres north of Perth, the Muchea project is poised to produce high-quality silica sand. Suvo has possession of exploration license E70/4981, comprising 16 blocks and approximately 4700 hectares.

The targeted silica sand deposits lie in the Bassendean sand table, wind-blown dune systems that have been created over tens of thousands of years.

The Muchea silica sand tenement has produced ultra-high grade exploration results where extensive drilling and testing has taken place, finding some of the highest known naturally-occurring grades in the world, including 99.93 per cent silicon dioxide (SiO2).

The project is strategically located next to the Brand Highway, with existing rail cart logistics in place and direct access to Kwinana bulk terminal.

Suvo also holds 100 per cent ownership of the Eneabba silica sands project in Western Australia, where drilling commenced in late November 2022.

Suvo executive director Aaron Banks said there was great potential in extending the resource into an area that could significantly reduce the timeline and pathway to production.

Suvo executive chairman Henk Ludik said an operation of this size would create much needed employment opportunities in the region.

“This is in line with the Government’s commitment to the region as evidenced by funding provided to Iluka’s adjacent project,” he said.
