Stealth Technologies, a subsidiary of Strategic Elements, will enter into an exclusive 12-month deal with Honeywell to build experimental autonomous robotic vehicles.
On top of the company’s software development, Stealth also custom builds automated robotic machines, integrate computer vision capabilities and creates artificial intelligence through machine learning, creating stealthOS, an autonomous AI software.
Stealth managing director Charles Murphy said an enormous amount of effort over the past 10 months had grown the venture from conception to working with one of the world’s leading technology companies in Honeywell.
“The team has been working to finalise a number of opportunities and we look forward to potentially unveiling some highly innovative projects,” Murphy said.
Honeywell delivers industry-specific solutions from aerospace to mining and operates total asset and facility management.
Autonomous mobile robots are designed for specific actions and tasks that can work in unpredictable environments. Autonomous robots can be used for inspection, transportation, and surveillance activities.
Autonomous vehicles are on the rise in the mining industry. In a recent example of the technology’s growth, Komatsu will deploy 41 automation-ready Komatsu 930E-5 ultra-class haul trucks at BHP’s South Flank iron ore project from next month.
The trucks will add to the 250 autonomous haulage system (AHS) machines that Komatsu has already deployed and the 180 operating globally across three continents at nine mine sites.
