A second drill rig will be moved in to Cortona Resources’ Majors Creek Gold Project in NSW to expand its drilling program and tap into potential reserves.
Latest assay results intersected new mineralisation and high-grade gold reserves in the area and suggest there are high grade reserves yet to be discovered in the region.
A dual purpose RC/diamond drilling rig will reach the site this week to test a range of soils, geophysics and mapping within the mine area. A second rig will be used to complete diamond drilling.
Cortona managing director Peter van der Borgh said the company has confirmed the continuity and grade of mineralisation within the area.
“Recent results have reinforced the discovery within its emerging gold field and we have only just begun to scratch the surface,” he said.
“We are now stepping up our exploration activity with drilling to continue on a range of targets as we move to capitalise on recent progress and add value to the project.”
Cortona has received all clearances required to proceed with the extended drilling campaign and will publish a company update in coming weeks detailing the program.
