Sandvik appoints new mining head

Sandvik has appointed Lars Engström as its new president of Sandvik Mining.

Engström joins the company from air treatment solution business Munters, where he was president and CEO.

He has also held executive positions within Atlas Copco as head of the rock drilling equipment and underground rock excavation division as general manager responsible for sales.

He also served as vice president within the marketing and finance division of the rock drilling tools segment of Atlas Copco.

Engström also has several years’ experience at Seco Tools.

“I have come to the conclusion that a new leadership is needed to develop Sandvik Mining going forward,” newly appointed Sandvik CEO Björn Rosengren said.

“I am convinced that Lars Engström, whom I know well from Atlas Copco, has the experience and the leadership qualities required for this. At the same time I would like to thank Scot Smith, who leaves Sandvik, for his contributions,” Rosengren added.

Engström steps into the role as of today.
