Safety in action

The Safety In Action show, held in Melbourne’s Exhibition Centre from March 31, is expected to draw more than 100,000 attendees.

Event organiser Australian Exhibitions & Conferences’ Marie Kinsella said the show will be larger than ever, despite the global financial crisis, with hundreds of occupational health and safety product suppliers gearing up to exhibit at the show.

“Aside from meeting your obligations, workplace safety and materials handling allows people to be more productive. Maintaining morale and increasing efficiency is even more critical in tough conditions and Australian businesses are not throwing out the baby with the bathwater,” Kinsella said.

Managing Director of OHS consulting Noel Arnold & Associates Andrew Meerman said many companies are increasing their investment in safety.

“Safety is a proven way to improve business performance,” he said, “and several of our clients who are under considerable commercial pressure have not only maintained but lifted their prevention efforts,” he said.
