THE University of Queensland (UQ) will waive engineering postgraduate research study fees to help fill engineering research gaps in Australia.
The UQ School of Engineering will waive for outstanding international students’ tuition fees, worth about $30,000 a year for PhD studies.
The University will offer 31 places initially in chemical, biological, metallurgical, mining, environmental, civil, mechanical, and materials engineering fields.
To qualify for the fee waiver, students must achieve first class honours or equivalent in their undergraduate engineering degree.
The first round intake will be decided before the end of the year, with more fee-waived research places are expected to become available as research funding increases.
