Kirkland Lake Gold has signed Redpath Mining to a raisebore contract at its Fosterville gold mine in Victoria, extending its long-standing relationship until 2023.
The new contract will see Redpath provide raisebore and boxhole services at Fosterville for an undisclosed value.
“We are delighted that this contract extends our continuous presence at Fosterville gold mine to over 10 years,” Redpath stated.
“At Redpath, creating a desire in the industry for our continuing services has been a commitment of ours since 1962.”
Last year, Redpath achieved a record-breaking ventilation raise for Kirkland Lake’s Macassa mine in Ontario, Canada.
The hole was 1010 metres deep with a diameter of 3.7 metres, making it the longest ever completed in the Northern Hemisphere.
Last year also saw the company receive the largest contract by value in its history, currently taking place in New South Wales.
It wasn’t disclosed which contract this was, but Redpath was also awarded a cut and flit development contract by Whitehaven Coal at its Narrabri coal operations in New South Wales in 2021.
The Whitehaven contract was said to employ 55 people who would be recruited immediately following the contract signing.
“As a market leader in providing advanced development solutions to mine owners across Australia and around the globe, Redpath is well placed to deliver this project for Narrabri coal operations,” the company stated in September
Red 5 was another beneficiary of Redpath’s work in 2021, awarding a $13 million mine development contract to the Canadian company, to be completed by the final quarter of 2022.
The contract will involve three kilometres of rapid underground mine development and commencement began on October 1.
