THE Mining Industry Skills Centre has released a revitalised Generic Induction (GI) program.
The refreshed program aims to build on the success of the original GI program adopted by the Queensland mining industry in 1997.
The GI training program was introduced to decrease the duplication in induction training being delivered to contractors in particular, as they moved from one site to another.
The revitalisation of the program came as the result of an independent review conducted by the University of Queensland in 2006.
Following the review, the Mining Industry Skills Centre (MISC) committed time and funds to revitalise the GI programs.
The MISC CEO Derek Hunter said the centre worked closely with the industry to provide the most efficient, cost effective and standardised induction process for non-permanent mine-site employees in Queensland.
