Westek improve motor drives with new filter

WESTEK has released the new Schaffner FN 5045 LC sine wave filter series, which Westek says will improve voltage output and current output, making it smoother for variable speed motor drives. Westek claims that drive cables are stressed less because of the high slew rate inverter pulse components.
This therefore extracts maximum life from stator winding insulation while at the same time significantly reducing capacitive, high frequency current components flowing to earth via bearings therefore prolonging their life, says Westek.
Westek also claims, the Schaffner FN 5045 LC filters are suitable for inverter frequencies as low as 2 kHz or 4 kHz depending on the rating chosen and that the filters are suitable for line voltages to 500 volts AC.  Line current ratings of 4.5 to 1200 amps (at 45°C) are available, and filter losses are low, e.g.: less than 3900 watt with a rating of 630 kilowatt.
Westek is an Australian company that specializes in electronics and electronic componentry, you can find the Schaffner FN 5045 LC filter and other products at www.westek.com.au.
