Virtual reality training simulator

Coal Services will unveil a new virtual reality training simulator and promote their healthy lifestyle program on Stand 1030 at the 2009 NSW Mining & Energy (M&E) exhibition at the Muswellbrook Showground from September 22-24.

Coal Services’ virtual reality training system is designed to prepare miners to respond promptly to dangerous situations and/or hazardous work environments, the company said.

“This technology enables us to teach and retrain safe work procedures to new and experienced miners in a virtual mine before they are exposed to the hazards of a real mine environment,” Coal Services executive director Ron Land said.

“The result is high quality training designed to reduce injuries and promote safer workplace practices,” he said.

Coal Services said is also using M&E to promote its recently launched “One Life … Make it Count” healthy lifestyle program.

The program is aimed at organisations keen to ensure the well being of their people, and is designed to provide employees with support, education and simple strategies to improve their health, the company said.
