VDO has developed a small Speed Alert, which is designed to alert motorists to speed limit changes and help reduce speeding.
Some roads can have varying speed limits ranging anything from 40 to 110 km per hour, so the unit is designed to keep the driver on top of the variations.
The latest dual voltage version can be mounted flat on the dashboard and is designed for use in both cars and trucks in either 12 or 24 V applications.
According to the company, the desired speed limit is scrolled up or down at the touch of a button or with a touch of the ‘SET’ button to lock in the current speed.
In the event of a driver over speeding, an L.E.D warning light illuminates and a buzzer is activated to alert the driver.
A relay output connection is also provided to allow additional external warning devices to be connected as required.
Additionally, the Speed Alert has a headlight warning alarm that will activate in the event of a driver leaving the headlamps on when exiting the vehicle.
