APC Technology releases the KBIM2-IS intrinsically safe keyboard

APC Technology has released the KBIM2-IS QWERTY keyboard and integrated mouse for use in hazardous areas.

APC Technology has manufactured intrinsically safe keyboards under AUSEX certification since 1997.

The KBIM2-IS is now available with international IECEX certification.

Intrinsically safe devices have been specifically developed for use in hazardous areas where an explosive mixture of air and gas or vapour is or may be present.

The company says these devices prevent explosions in hazardous locations by employing electrical designs that eliminate the possibility of ignition.

This generally involves adding protective components in series with energy storage devices.

According to APC Technologies, the purpose of the protective components is to reduce the risk of ignition due to spark or increased surface temperature of components.

These areas typically include mining, petroleum and chemical engineering plants and factories processing and storing gases, solvents and other volatile substances.

METTLER TOLEDO launches POWERCELL PDX load cell system

METTLER TOLEDO has released the POWERCELL PDX load cell system, which is designed to eliminate failure and unplanned repair costs to truck and rail scales.

The company says prior to the introduction of POWERCELL PDX, all load cell systems required junction boxes to bring together all of the weighing signals and transmit them to the terminal.

These boxes are wired at the construction site and are exposed to the weather.

The process is riddled with potential errors and is the most common source of truck and rail scale failures.

According to METTLER TOLEDO, POWERCELL PDX load cells are connected together in series so that no junction box is required.

The load cells are also completely protected against lightning damage with StrikeShield system.

The POWERCELL PDX load cell system has been proven in independent testing to survive multiple lightning strikes up to 80,000 A.

The switches are built on an OpenRail platform. Both have direct AC and/or DC, low and/or high voltage redundant power available and can be offered with Power over Ethernet (PoE) ports.

Belden’s RSR and MACH1000 über-rugged switches are fully compliant to substation standards IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 and are NEMA TS2 and EN 50155 compliant.

Technical and Scientific Equipment release compressive strength measurement system

Technical and Scientific Equipment (TSE) have released a new system for the testing of compression strength of aggregate, cement and mortar.

This system also tests the Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) and California Bearing Ratio (CBR), using a dedicated mechanical tester and load cell system to allow automation of the measurements.

The precision lead screw enables accurate speed and position measurement across the measuring range, so calculation of the California Bearing Ratio and Unconfined Compressive Strength can be performed directly.

The control console collects and analyses the data without the need for a computer, making the machine ideal for use in a geomechanics lab.

Alternatively, the console can be connected into an Ethernet network to transfer the data to a remote PC for generation of quality records and reports.

The compression strength tester has a load range of 2 – 100kN, with load accuracy being ±1%.
