Wärtsilä Australia has released the Oil Cube and Gas Cube self contained power generation stations.
The cubes are built to deliver power generation of between 5 to 30MW, with any increase in power demand sated by the addition of another cube.
The Wärtsilä Cube solution is a fully self-contained cabinet unit that comes in kit form and a cube is built around each complete module.
It is designed for users that do not have major construction and project handling resources but require power production on-site.
The compact Oil Cube comes with options ranging from 16V32 to 20V32, and includes a modular HFO treatment system comprising two separators and a tank with separated fuel.
The cube is electrically heated and comes without a steam system, with electricity consumption minimised by utilising heat taken from the engine cooling water and lubrication oils systems.
All Oil Cubes are built with a low voltage electrical system inside the cube and operate on plc and panel mounted WOIS (Wärtsilä operators interface system), allowing the plants to be monitored and operated remotely or by using WOIS workstations.
The Gas Cubes provide up to 9.7MWe per unit, with the inlet air modules, charge air silencers, exhaust gas system and an auxiliary module all connected to the generator set.
The auxiliary model includes a gas regulating ramp, the cooling system, an instrument air system, an engine pre-heater and a water pump for use in engine maintenance.
All auxiliaries are located in the modules.
A closed-circuit cooling system used in both the Oil and Gas Cubes reduces water consumption to a minimum, making it suitable for remote locations or locations where water is scarce.
