Pacific Sensor Technologies launches PST-Motor101-C motor data loggers

Pacific Sensor Technologies has released the PST-Motor101-C motor on-off status data logger and current switch.

The data logger measures and records on and off status changes for motors and any other devices that draw up to 200 A.

The current switch is clamped around a wire to monitor the current as it passes through.

According to the company, the state change occurs when the current switch exceeds a 150 mA set point, meaning most basic equipment can be monitored.

When the current exceeds 150 mA, the output changes and provides a voltage for the Motor101 to measure.

The package also comes with an IFC200 interface cable.

The FLIR M-Series night vision system has taken out top honours in one of the world’s most prestigious design awards — the DAME award.

TURCK launches UN minifast explosion-proof feed-through receptacles

TURCK has released the B size and C size UN minifast explosion-proof feed-through receptacles, which are 25.4 mm and 28.6 mm respectively.

The units can be installed directly into standard 19 mm conduit entries without additional seals.

According to the company, the receptacles maintain the explosion-proof ratings of instrument housings and explosion-proof enclosures in Class I, Division 2 hazardous areas.

The devices can withstand 6000 psi of pressure and are constructed from 316 stainless steel housings.

To reduce wiring errors, 7- and 8-pole B-size and 9-, 10- and 12-pole C-size connectors are specially keyed in a way to ensure the connectors cannot be improperly mated.

The receptacles’ connectors are compatible with TURCK’s cordsets and provide NEMA 1, 3, 4 and 6P as well as IP-68 protection against liquid ingress when a mating connector is attached.

Metso releases Nordverg MP1250 cone crusher upgrades

Metso Mining and Construction Technology has released the Nordverg MP1250 cone crusher, which features 30% more capacity than the MP1000, but with the same footprint.

According to the company, the increased capacity and therefore productivity is a result of advanced crushing dynamics.

The cone crusher features power ratings up to 932 kW, a redesigned mainframe for improved durability and a new head bushing design that reduces head spin during no-load operation.

The unit also comes with a new eccentric design that provides improved surface finish and protects the eccentric in the event of overload.

An improved mantle locknut makes maintenance quicker and easier, while the hydraulic tramp protection system has also been upgraded, Metso says.

Additionally, the cone crusher comes with bowl adjustment and removal and faster hydraulic re-pressurisation times.

The company says the unit’s higher power-to-production ratio means energy is more efficiently used.

Existing MP1000 cone crushers can be upgraded with an MP1250 retrofit kit.

Teralba Industries launches LTE Series Mixquip Top Entry Agitators

Teralba Industries has released the LTE Series of Mixquip Top Entry Agitators, which are designed for continuous running in viscous and demanding applications.

The company says the units are developed for a larger range of tanks and vessels.

Previously, many applications were limited to the STE series of light-duty units.

The LTE range is available with minimum power ratings of 1.5 kW and in a variety of speeds and models to suit multiple applications.

According to the manufacturer, the agitators are especially suitable for heavy-duty mining applications.

Wartsila releases range of power generators for remote sites

Wärtsilä Australia has released the Oil Cube and Gas Cube self contained power generation stations.

The cubes are built to deliver power generation of between 5 to 30MW, with any increase in power demand sated by the addition of another cube.

The Wärtsilä Cube solution is a fully self-contained cabinet unit that comes in kit form and a cube is built around each complete module.

It is designed for users that do not have major construction and project handling resources but require power production on-site.

The compact Oil Cube comes with options ranging from 16V32 to 20V32, and includes a modular HFO treatment system comprising two separators and a tank with separated fuel.

The cube is electrically heated and comes without a steam system, with electricity consumption minimised by utilising heat taken from the engine cooling water and lubrication oils systems.

All Oil Cubes are built with a low voltage electrical system inside the cube and operate on plc and panel mounted WOIS (Wärtsilä operators interface system), allowing the plants to be monitored and operated remotely or by using WOIS workstations.

The Gas Cubes provide up to 9.7MWe per unit, with the inlet air modules, charge air silencers, exhaust gas system and an auxiliary module all connected to the generator set.

The auxiliary model includes a gas regulating ramp, the cooling system, an instrument air system, an engine pre-heater and a water pump for use in engine maintenance.

All auxiliaries are located in the modules.

A closed-circuit cooling system used in both the Oil and Gas Cubes reduces water consumption to a minimum, making it suitable for remote locations or locations where water is scarce.

Engine Care Systems releases air intake pre-cleaner

Engine Care Systems have released the Enginaire pre-cleaner to reduce the wear and tear of mine vehicle engines caused by abrasive particles.

Constructed from heavy duty aluminium and stainless steel, the cleaner works by removing particles from the air prior to it entering the engine’s filtration system.

The pre-cleaner operates via a centrifugal fan system that removes up to 97 per cent of contaminants.

These particles are then expelled through a discharge port, leaving clean air to be drawn into the plenum chamber, then to the engine.

The pre cleaner has been shown to extend filter life and air cleaner maintenance intervals by up to 10 times. It is designed for use in mining vehicles.

Geislinger releases Gesilco Composite Discs

Geislinger has unvieled its Gesilco composite discs for large diesel electric driven mining dump trucks.

The discs were designed to reduce the axial load on the generator as well as on the last engine bearing while preventing electro corrosion and ceramic coated bearings.

It replaces the steel discs used to connect the generator and flywheel.

Due to its use of long-fibre reinforced composites the disc is able to carry the generator load while providing low reaction forces.

It is constructed from a mix of carbon fibre and glass fibre which provides shock torque resistance (short circuit) and electrical isolation at the same time.

The discs are available in all standard flywheel sizes.

Rotork Australia releases gearboxes for aggressive applications

Rotork Australia has released upgraded IB — Bevel and IS – Spur gearboxes which are designed to suit aggressive environments.

The units include stainless steel fasteners, a stainless steel input shaft, two-pack polyamide epoxy surface coatings and an IP-68 enclosure rating.

The company says the units can be buried, submerged, used with aggressive fluids and can handle the high thrust required for rising stem applications.

The gearboxes are typically used with Gate, Knife gate, Sluice gates, Penstock and Globe valves.

The devices are available in 19 models with various torques, thrusts, ratios and ISO 5211 flange interfaces for easy mounting to a wide range of valves.

Rotork says the gearboxes can operate in any position.

WEG Australia launches Optimal Flux Technology for motor drive combinations

WEG Australia has released upgraded versions of its CFW09 and CFW11 variable speed drives, which include Optimal Flux Technology to remove cooling issues in motors.

Optimal Flux Technology can eliminates the need for forced cooling in motors with speeds as low as 5Hz, even for constant torque loads with full motor torque demand.

According to the company, this means the variable speed drives can be used with the full range of W21 or W22 series motors.

WEG says the technology can provide cost and energy savings by removing the need for a cooling fan and the power and control systems needed to run it.

Motor longevity is also extended by carefully regulating the time between pulses of the IGBTs, which therefore reduce the voltage impulses at motor terminals.

This combination of motor and drive can decrease motor temperature rise is by as much as 11%.

Since motor insulation life is doubled by every 10°C decrease in its operating temperature, the new technology can dramatically increase motor life.

Ansell releases Protection Solutions Guide for gloves, sleeves and clothing

Ansell has released the Protection Solutions Guide, which is designed to help customers select the most suitable safety gear for certain applications.

According to the company, the guide is based on feedback from customers, including their experiences, requirements and preferences.

The guide couples vital information on the equipment with comparison charts and application images.

The gear, including gloves, sleeves and protective clothing, is grouped into three categories: mechanical protection, chemical and liquid protection and product protection.

Each section details which gear can best protect against hazards as varied as cuts, abrasions, chemicals and contaminants.

The guide also provides information on which protection segment and duty level may be appropriate for their application and which meets their requirements.

An industry table also shows which gear is more suitable for certain industries and ranks the performance against the 100 most commonly used industrial chemicals.

Spill Station Australia releases 1200 L tank safety showers

Spill Station Australia has released a range of 1200 L tank safety showers which comply with the Australian Standard AS 4775-2007 for Emergency Eyewash and Shower Equipment.

This Standard requires the water temperature for such equipment to be kept between 15.6°C and 37.8°C.

According to the company, treating chemical burns with water outside of this limit can increase the damage to skin and eyes.

Furthermore, in conditions where ambient temperatures climb above 40°C it can be difficult to maintain compliant water temperature.

Spill Station Australia says the showers are fully-insulated and are available with fitted solar shields.

A chiller or heating unit can also be fitted to units that are located in areas with extreme temperatures.

Other optional fittings including eyewash unit, alarms, lighting and level switch can be supplied.

The shower can be used in areas where mains water supply is not available.

ROPS-compliant excavators

Hitachi Construction Machinery has upgraded its existing Zaxis-3 seven to 50 tonne hydraulic excavators to comply with Roll Over Protective Systems (ROPS) standards.

According to the company, the excavators now meet the ISO 12117-2:2008 Earthmoving machinery ROPS standard for equipment over six tonnes.

Hitachi says this standard is currently gaining momentum as a pre-requisite among Australian construction and contracting companies.

The Zaxis-3 CRES II cabs were designed to meet a higher safety certification than existed at the time and were automatically compatible when the ISO standard was released.

The company says the excavators have now been officially certified.

Hitachi’s service technicians are available to inspect Zaxis-3 excavators already operating in the field in order to certify those units.

Pentair Technical Products launches Hoffman FUSION G7 Enclosures

Pentair Technical Products has released the Hoffman FUSION G7 Global Wall-Mount Enclosures, which feature a scalable design and internal component mounting provisions.

The enclosures are available in 30 standard metric sizes and include a galvanised back panel and a removable bottom gland plate to facilitate cable modifications and installation.

The units can also include an optional internal grid system that allows multiple internal panel and component configurations, which increases capacity.

Some of the internal mounting accessories available include full- and half-height back and side panels, front to back side-mount brackets, DIN-rail adapter brackets and swing-out panels.

According to the company, the enclosures can be used to house power junctions, automation gear and process control systems.

ATF Mining Electrics develops safe underground switchboards

ATF Mining Electrics has launched an 11 kV underground switchboard which is designed to protect operators from internal arc faults.

According to the company, the switchboard has a certified short time fault current withstand rating of 25 kA for one second at 11 kV.

The unit also comes with a certified internal arc fault protection rating of 12 kA for one second at 11 kV.

To further boost worker safety, the switchboard can also be remotely operated and comes with duplicated mechanical and electrical interlocks to ensure safe isolation switching and visible earthing.

The company says the fault driven overcurrent protection system installed in the switchboard is certified to IEC 60255.

This ensures safe clearance under severe short circuit conditions, which are often encountered in underground applications.

The switchboard also comes with a 10 kA self-revealing lightning surge protection.

NHP releases Multi-Flex floor standing enclosure for cables and equipment

NHP has released the Multi-Flex floor standing enclosure, which features multiple mounting positions to reduce installation time.

According to the manufacturer, the unit can be used for applications such as control and automation, power distribution, communications and air conditioning and ventilation.

NHP says the enclosure’s double folded shaped profile offers flexibility and strength in all directions.

The Multi-Flex also features a compact design, meaning the user gains the maximum amount of installation space possible inside the enclosure.

The enclosure also has hole patterns on all sides, including the outside, which provides the numerous mounting positions, including from the front.

The units are constructed with double folded precision steel, which is laser welded over the full height.

Imbiber Bead polymer spill control system from Enware Australia

Enware Australia has released the Imbiber Bead polymer system, an environmental spill capture system that will not release waste under any conditions once it has been absorbed.

The Imbiber Bead super absorbent polymer system is ideal for use in waterways as a protective barrier to prevent leakage from land into water or from water onto land.

According to the company, the system is effective on hydrocarbons and a wide range of organic chemicals and incorporates a colour indicator for easy monitoring when it is used as a protection shield.

Enware Australia says two Imbiber Beads standard packs can fully absorb a litre of diesel fuel in water over 15 minutes

The Imbiber Beads can also reduce explosive vapours and are the only absorbent products available that immobilise the liquid once it is absorbed.

Visual indicators within the beads change colour from white to pink to red as hydrocarbons and organic chemicals are absorbed and the beads become fully saturated.

Once an organic liquid has been absorbed the beads swell, with packs growing to four or five times the original thickness.

Boart Longyear launches Surface Set XP drill bits

Boart Longyear has released a line of surface set bits, which include 11 configurations designed to yield deeper penetration and reduced rod tripping.

The company says Surface Set XP bits last up to three times longer than conventional surface-set bits and eliminate the need to use alternative bits in inconsistent ground formations.

Boart Longyear aimed to redefine the surface-set category and set a new benchmark for productivity in soft and sedimentary applications.

The Surface Set XP bits feature an impregnated crown with multiple layers of diamonds for a significantly increased lifespan.

According to the manufacturer, the Ultramatrix crown holds large, synthetic diamonds in place as it continues to cut, while traditional surface-set bits that use only a single layer of diamonds.

The Surface Set XP’s RazerCut face design further increases productivity by quickly exposing the impregnated diamonds.

Boart Longyear says the Ultramatrix design also can reduce maintenance downtime with its push-through capability in hard seams, which prevents unnecessary rod trips.

Hard seams in the ground often destroy traditional surface-set bits, forcing operators to pull the rod string out and change bits if ground formations vary as it cuts deeper.

Compressed Air Australia supplies EXAIR Heavy Duty Dry Vac

EXAIR has developed the Heavy Duty Dry Vac, an industrial-duty vacuum cleaner that has been engineered to vacuum high volumes of dry materials in less time that normal units.

According to the distributor, the wear resistant design is suitable for the clean-up of abrasive materials, such as steel shot, garnet, metal chips and sand.

The Heavy Duty Dry Vac is compressed air powered and attaches to the user supplied 205 L open-top drum.

The company says it is extremely quiet at 77 dBA, making it suitable for a wide variety of applications.

Surrounding air is kept clean by the 0.1 micron filter bag that traps particles when vacuuming dusty materials.

The Heavy Duty Dry Vac System comes complete with a lever lock drum lid, shutoff valve, reusable filter bag, three metre polyethylene static resistant hose, hose hanger, six metre compressed air hose with swivel fittings, pressure gauge and heavy duty aluminium chip wand.
