Mobile crusher is electric

Sandvik Mining and Construction has released an alternative to conventional truck/shovel mining in the form of the PF300 mobile crusher, an electric-powered high-capacity unit specifically designed for in-pit crushing and conveying (IPCC) for the mining and quarrying industries.

The PF300 can be fully customised to meet the needs of a wide range of applications and materials, and can be fitted with a sizer, a double-roll crusher or the company’s CR800 series hybrid crusher.

A large-capacity hopper and apron feeder allows it to be direct-loaded by rope shovels, hydraulic excavator/shovels, wheel loaders or surface miners, with a stability (patent pending) system allowing the unit to remain fully mobile at all times, without the need for any form of temporary support.

According to the company, the mobile crusher can work in combination with belt wagons, mobile transfer conveyors or load bridges as the connecting downstream link to the face conveyor.

The physical size of the PF300 in a given application is determined by throughput, which can range from 2000 tonnes/hour up to 14,000 tonnes/hour.

Throughput depends on a customer’s production needs, as well as rock density, rock fragmentation and rock hardness.

The PF300 is designed for initial processing (primary crushing) and is capable of handling a wide range of materials, from overburden, through to various ore types, as well as coal, rock and aggregates.

The crusher type to be used with the PF300 depends on rock hardness (UCS), with the Sandvik hybrid crusher option capable of handling up to an average UCS 150 MPa.

The crusher also has the ability to be reconfigured as a customer’s needs change, in terms of output, materials types and sizes, with settings and picks able to be adjusted to suit a new size range.
