HONEYWELL has released the RC 500 RTU that Honeywell says will intergrate with SCADA Products to solve complex automation challenges in industries such as oil and gas.
The RC500 Remote Terminal Unit (RTU), is a modular and scalable controller that easily integrates with SCADA technology to give industrial manufacturers tighter control of remote operations says Honeywell. The RC 500 can run under minimal electricity, even solar electricity, but also stand harsh conditions which is ideal for remote automation in oil and gas applications, claims Honeywell.
RC500’s open communication platform integrates seamlessly with Honeywell’s Experion® Process Knowledge System (PKS), one of the process industries’ most widely used platforms for control system automation, says Honeywell. Honeywell also claims that with the combination of the Experion’s SCADA products allows for easier management of complex remote automation and control applications, such as gas flow metering, data concentrator and communications intergration.
“Knowing what is happening upstream enables refiners to respond quickly to market conditions and adjust product output, and the best way to achieve that visibility is by integrating remote systems into a single automated platform,” said Scott Hillman, global marketing director.
Honeywell says that with its embedded Linux platform, the RC500 RTU line features models with flexible communication ports and protocol options enabling facilities to easily and cost-effectively expand the system. Honeywell also claims it will be easy to perform peer- to- peer I/O transfers making it ideal for sharing information between devices.
The RC500 RTU also includes data-logging capabilities with the option to record I/O values and log them into data files, claims Honeywell. Who also said this will mean it will make sure critical data from the field is not missed and is available for analysis. Facilities can easily retrieve the data files and then display them using many applications making the process simple and cost-effective.
