Mining moves: Primary Gold appoints managing director, and more

Australian Mining brings readers the latest corporate appointments and departures in the local and international mining industry.

Garry Mills has been appointed managing director of Primary Gold to lead the company’s development of the Mount Bundy and Coolgardie gold projects in the Northern Territory and Western Australia, respectively. Mills is a mining engineer with more than 30 years of operating experience in middle and senior management levels. He has been a director at Primary Gold since March 2016.

Exploration company Marmota has hired Ian Warland as managing director. Warland is a geologist with more than 25 years’ experience in exploration and mining. He has worked in open pit and underground base metals mining, as well as exploration for a range of commodities, including gold, copper, uranium, base metals and industrial minerals.

Peninsula Mines has appointed Lawrence Dugdale as the company’s managing director. Dugdale joined the company as chief executive officer in August 2016 and, in conjunction with executive director Danny Noonan, has overseen strong progress on the company’s exploration projects.

David Ransom has been appointed chairman and non-executive director of Investigator Resources. Ransom has more than 45 years of experience with the mining industry in Australia and internationally. Most recently, Ransom was employed by Acorn Capital in the role of resource analyst/portfolio manager.

Atrum Coal director Cameron Vorias has resigned from the company. Vorias is also managing director of Sojitz Coal Mining. With an increased workload at Sojitz Vorias was no longer able to assist Atrum as director, the company reported.

Michael Bromley has resigned as non-executive director of New Guinea Energy. Bromley has been a member of the company’s board since 2006.

Carnarvon Petroleum has advised that director Ted Jacobson has retired from his role at the company. Jacobson has been a director of the company since 2005, and in his role as managing director and chief executive officer led the discovery, development and production of oil in Thailand.
