PLC and motion control

A POWER transmission and drive manufacturer has released a series of PLC and motion controllers.

The series combines conventional sequential PLC control and motion control in a single platform.

The controller is the first of three variants planned for release in Australia during 2007.

All three models feature flexible connectivity and processing capacity that supports simultaneous control of 64 separate drive axes.

The new controller’s hardware platform includes 400 MHz processors, 8 MB programming memory, and 4 MB data memory.

The series supports a wide range of external communications, including Ethernet.

This allows it to be incorporated into a range of system architectures, including a stand-alone controller supporting multiple connected drives, or a slave controller working in response to a supervisory PLC.

The new series provides two onboard Ethernet ports, two open interfaces, two RS485 ports, and a USB interface.

Future models will support many industrial fieldbus protocols.
