Asia Pacific Oil & Gas Conference starts

One of Australia's largest oil and gas conference has started in Adelaide.

The Asia Pacific Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition (APOGCE)  has been opened yesterday by South Australian minister for mineral resources and energy Tom Koutsantonis, and is set to be the largest ever.

Santos vice president, technical engineering and innovation Diana Hoff spoke at the opening session, exploring this year's conference theme of 'Changing the Game: Opportunities, Challenges, and Solutions'.

According to Hoff the oil and gas industry is seeing an accelerated change of pace, which is presenting both opportunities and hurdles, but "whether viewed through the lenses of deep water operations, FLNG or unconventional resources development, our industry is constantly pushing the limits of what we thought possible".

This theme of changing landscape was further explored by Santos CEO David Knox, who delivered the keynote session on innovation.

The conference will continue tomorrow, and examine the investment market in resources

Held over 700 square meters, the event has received 1300 abstracts to be discussed, with 45 companies showcasing their latest technological innovations.
