Xstrata has opened a 24 hour complaints hotline for the community near its Mt Isa mine.
Open seven days a week, the new hotline was established following the alleged lead contamination of children in the city of Mt Isa.
The miner has also set up a website for residents of the town to either lodge complaints or see the latest project information.
These new services were launched at the Xstrata Mount Isa Mines community information session.
“We are committed to providing open, two way communication channels and have introduced these two initiatives to improve the way in which we interact with our people and our local community," Xstrata spokesman Steve de Kruijff said.
