Xstrata donates $1 million for sick children

Xstrata Copper has donated $1 million for chronically ill children to double the capacity of Townsville’s Ronald McDonald House.

Steve de Kruijff, Xstrata Copper North West Queensland’s COO presented the donation at a recent charity ball, according to the North West Star.

The funds were part of Xstrata’s Community Program North Queensland, and allows the charity to build a new facility at Townsville Hopsital.

"Our partnership with Ronald McDonald House will deliver tangible and long-lasting benefits to North Queensland families," de Kruijff said.

"Since its establishment in 2004 by founder and Board member George Colbran, Ronald McDonald House has assisted almost 300 families from Xstrata’s local north Queensland communities."
