WorleyParsons win Vale contract extension

WorleyParsons has won an extension to its contract with Vale at the S11D project.

It has been working on the mine since 2010.

This extension will allow WorleyParsons to complete the detailed design scope for the modular ore processing facilities and being provision of field engineering and early construction activities.

The extension was awarded after Vale obtained the installation licence for the S11D project earlier this month, and approving the S11D program, which is comprised of a series of investments in the mine, processing plant, railway, and port.

WorleyParsons CEO Andrew Wood stated that the company is "delighted that after three years of continuous involvement in the S11D project, Vale continues to show great confidence in our capabilities".

S11D, the world's largest iron ore mine, is a unique operation, having late last year announced its intention to become automated and completely truckless.
