WorleyParsons keeps maintenance contract at Loy Yang

TWPS, a joint venture between WorleyParsons and Broadspectrum, has landed a $200 million contract for maintenance with AGL Loy Yang.

The contract will run for five and a half years, and cover power station and coal mine maintenance services, in continuation of its role since 2010.

WorleyParsons CEO Andrew Wood said he was pleased to continue to support the AGL Loy Yang operation in their commitment to power generation in Victoria.

Earlier this year AGL announced plans to ramp up investment in renewable energy and shut down existing coal power plants over the next 35 years without any extensions to operating life.

The company also pledged to not buy any new coal-fired generation capacity without carbon capture and storage facilities.
