A worker has died at Olympic Dam following a ‘medical emergency’.

It occurred on the 20th of January at the BHP site.

“BHP Billiton Olympic Dam was saddened by the news that a member of our team, an employee of one of our contracting partners, passed away following a medical emergency on site,” a BHP spokesperson told Australian Mining.

“Investigations are underway, however at this stage there is no evidence to suggest it is work related.

“Relevant authorities have been notified and we are assisting with their activities,” they stated.

“The family have been advised and we have offered our full support to them and our contracting partner during this difficult time.”
