MULTI-award-winning ABC science writer and broadcaster Bernie Hobbs will compere QRC’s International Womens Day Breakfast and Resources Awards for Women (RAW) on Friday, 7 March 2008.

The awards provide recognition to outstanding women in the sector and to companies who excel in the attraction and retention of women.

Past winners have been excellent role models, mentors and ambassadors for women in the industry.

The breakfast, which also provides a networking opportunity for women in the industry, and the awards are part of the QRC’s Women in Resources Action Plan (WRAP).

WRAP is in response to the skills shortage faced by the sector, and aims to double the percentage of women in non-traditional roles by 2020.

Current the proportion of women in these roles is 7%.
