Whittens has secured its sixth contract for 2017 with RCR Tomlinson at Pilbara Minerals’ Pilgangoora lithium-tantalum project in Western Australia.

The scope of work for the $10 million contract involves concrete construction of primary / secondary crushing, tertiary crushing (wet screening), wet processing, spodumene concentration dressing and processing plant services.

Whittens will install 5800 cubic metres of concrete, with the contract expected to be completed by January 2018.

Chief executive Louise Whitten commented: “We are very pleased to be part of such a significant project; this contract award validates the commitment of our people and further cements our position in Western Australia as the leading self-perform construction and services partner to the mining industry.”

Whittens has also won significant mining construction contracts with the BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) at the Caval Ridge Southern Circuit project in Queensland and with G&S Engineering Services at MACH Energy’s Mount Pleasant coal mine in New South Wales this year.
