Giralia Resources has announced an increased inferred mineral resource at its Western Creek project, located 15 kilometres west of Newman in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The updated Marra Mamba iron ore mineralisation resource estimate of 40.7 million tonnes at 57.3% Fe represents a 38% increase on a previously announced estimate in July 2008.

Drilling has recommenced at Western Creek and is targeting resource extensions and at the Homestead prospect in the north of the newly acquired area.

Recent surface sampling by Royal Resources along strike from an intersection in the Marra Mamba Formation returned assays in excess of 62% Fe.

Western Creek directly adjoins BHP Billiton’s Marra Mamba Formation hosted Silver Knight iron ore deposit and is located only 15 kilometres from the railway and train loading facilities at Newman.
