Weir Minerals integrates Delta Industrial into major facility

Weir Minerals has completed the integration of valve manufacturing subsidiary Delta Industrial, known for its knife gate valves, into its St Louis, Missouri facility in the United States.

This integration is expected to deliver global benefits to mining operators. Previously, Weir’s St Louis facility focused solely on Lewis pumps and valves, but the integration of Delta Industrial is set to streamline operations considerably.

The facility underwent significant expansion to accomodate the integration, with a manufacturing space increase of 464 square metres and warehouse space increase of 1393 square metres. It also required the hiring of over 180 new employees.

“We’ve optimised the supply chain to deliver what our customers want, when they want it,” explained Grant Ramsden, managing director of Weir’s St Louis facility.

“We did this by increasing shifts to three per day and hired more staff to ensure we could create our products in a timely manner.”

Weir Minerals has also added 24 valve specialists to its international roster in order to provide better service to its clients.

“From the St. Louis facility, we now have the ability to utilise customer insights to further develop materials technology and expand the product line,” said Weir global product manager for valves John Abbott.
