Watpac wins Hanking Gold mining contract

Watpac have won a $29 million contract to provide mining services for Hanking Gold's Cornishman Pit.

The site is located at Hanking Gold's Southern Cross operation in the Yilgarn.

Watpac will provide drill, blast, and conventional mining services over a 19 month period, with around 50 people slated to be employed as part of the contract, Watpac civil and mining general manager Russell Hal said.

Watpac CEO Martin Monro welcomed the contract, stating that it was a boost for the group's civil and mining business.

"While the outlook for the resources sector has been mixed, Watpac Civil and Mining have continued to perform well over the past 12 months, and the announcement of this contract with Hanking Gold is an example of the team's efforts to maintain a healthy forward work book," Monro said.
