WA MidWest prepares for cyclones

The West Australian MidWest region is today preparing for floods as Cyclone Carlos is expected to reform off the coast.

Residents of the Pilbara and Kimberly regions were also told to be ready for potential floods.

Authorities warned those south of Geraldton that the Greenough River may break its banks, according to The West.

More than 125mm of rain had fallen in the Greenough River catchment over Friday and Saturday.

Potentially destructive winds of up to 125km/h are also expected along the Pilbara coast.

The Laverton region of the State was hard hit by flooding last week, causing the evacuation of the Crescent Gold mining camp.
