Venturex discovers gold at Whim Creek copper-zinc project in Pilbara

Venturex has announced that a review of previous exploration from its Mays Find prospect — part of the Whim Creek copper-zinc project in the Pilbara, Western Australia — has revealed gold findings.

Like West Wits’ recently acquired Pilbara gold leases (part of its Tambina project), the Mays Find prospect has been compared to the Novo-Artemis Purdy’s Reward joint venture near Karratha in WA, which has shown Witwatersrand-style gold deposits.

Historical soil sampling data from 2007 by the project’s previous owner, Straits Resources, showed levels of gold at 52 parts per billion from a strike length of 5.2 kilometres; no follow-up work was carried out at the time.

The results will be used by Venturex to determine the potential for conglomerate-hosted gold at the site; Venturex has stated that it believes gold is likely to be sourced from the Lower Fortescue conglomerate having recently finished sediment sampling from streams along the northeastern side of the project.
