VDM wins BHP nickel contract

VDM Group has signed a $40 million contract for work at BHP Billiton’s Kambalda nickel mine.

The contractor’s subsidiary, Cape Crushing and Earthmoving will carry out the work at mine’s nickel concentrator.

The award complements Cape’s current ore haulage and services contract with BHP Nickel West.
Cape managing director Mike Heddon said “it’s a compliment to the entire Cape team to be awarded this significant contract.

He went on to say that the company had recently celebrated 15 years lost time injury free.

This contract is part of a wider suite of contract awarded to VDM since May 2011, valued at around $66.5 million.
