The US ambassador to Australia has stated that Western Australia’s Pilbara region is drawing attention as one of the best investment opportunities worldwide.
Speaking at the University of Western Australia, ambassador Jeffery Bleich said the Pilbara is at the forefront of resource conversations around the world, according to the ABC.
"There is overwhelming enthusiasm and excitement, people see not only the tremendous resources here but also that the people are the greatest resource," he said.
Bleich commented on the excitement that has been generated for the region, which holds iron ore mines such as Twiggy Forrest’s Cloudbreak, Rio Tinto’s Yandicoogina and BHP Billiton’s Mt Whaleback mine.
“The US is betting very big on Australia,” he said.
Canadian mining companies have been working in Australia for sometime, with First Quantum recently reviving BHP Billiton’s mothballed Ravensthorpe nickel mine in Western Australia.
