Underground safety inspection at Mount Gordon mine

The mines inspectorate and site management team have carried out assessments of Aditya Birla’s Mount Gordon mine following an underground collapse.

Heavy rains were believed to be behind the collapse of the F1 vent shaft collar last month.

According to Aditya, the investigation into the causes and risks to the operation caused by the vent shaft collapse has been concluded.

The miner stated that it can now carry out the mining of broken stocks in Mount Gordon’s B lens and D stope, and that the processing plant can re-commence operations.

It is moving towards approval for Stage 2 mining i.e. complete mining operations including drilling and blasting, bogging, and production of ore.
