United Minerals (UMC) yesterday announced its deputy chairman Alan Birchmore had been appointed as non-executive chairman, following the resignation of Philip Crabb.
Birchmore is also currently serving as the chairman of Fremantle Ports and has been a director for several other Australian, European and US-listed companies in the past.
Additionally, he has served as the chairman of several Western Australian Government enquiries and statutory authorities.
During his tenure, Crabb oversaw the company’s negotiations with the China Railway Materials Commercial Group over the Railway Iron Ore Deposit in the East Pilbara.
Both parties signed an agreement earlier in the month, which is now subject to due diligence and approvals.
