Two workers have been killed on an Origin Energy gas drill off the Victorian coast.
According to the Australian Workers Union the exact cause of the deaths is unknown and a probe has been launched to investigate the accident.
One worker was killed instantly and another died en route to hospital after they were reportedly struck by a metal bar following equipment failure.
Origin said production on the Stena Clyde offshore unit had not been impacted by the accident and there was no environmental fallout.
The company told AAP the well had been operating in accordance with well established safety rules.
