ISS Facility Services Australia (ISS) has acquired one of Western Australia’s largest catering companies Topic Caterers.
“Until now, the catering and villages services market in Australia has been dominated by three key players, and the future commitment of one player is doubtful,” ISS CEO Charles Blinkworth said.
“With the emergence of ISS in this sector, mining and resources companies now have a real choice available to them in sourcing their services provision.”
This was recently demonstrated in a significant manner with the success of an AU $75m contract in the Pilbara region of Western Australia with the world’s third largest mining company.
Since starting in 1986, Topic Caterers has grown to employ 200 people and has revenues of $32 million a year.
“Topic Caterers are looking forward to new opportunities that will no doubt eventuate as a result of this acquisition,” Topic Caterers managing director Steve Topic said.
“We look forward to working together to provide the service that clients in the mining and remote regions are seeking”.
Topic Caterers are involved in contracts with Fleetwood Pty Ltd, HWE, Pilbara Manganese, Barminco, Magellan Metals, Crescent Gold and Fox Resources to mention a few. Through these contracts, services are provided to companies such as BHP, Rio Tinto and Woodside.
“Our previous alliance with Topic Caterers was greatly successful in securing a number of tenders,” business development manager Gary Negus said.
