Tin contract awarded

Macmahon has won a two year contract to service Bluestone’s tin mine.

Macmahon Holdings has won a two year $65 million contract to work Bluestone Mines’ Renison tin mines.

The contract mining services company has been awarded the two year contract to work at Bluestone’s underground Tasmanian tin mine.

Macmahon will commence on site work by mid march this year, where it will carry out the development and underground production, as well as general maintenance and management of the miner’s mobile plant assets.

The Renison mine is currently owner operated.

This contract “gives the company greater geographical and commodity diversification,” Macmahon chief executive officer Nick Bowen said.

Bluestone Mines Tasmania is a wholly owned subsidiary of Australia’s largest tin miner Metals X.

The mine is situated on the west coast of Tasmania and is the country’s highest source of tin.

Macmahon anticipates that employee numbers on the site will remain at the same level as the current workforce.
