Thiess wins Dawson coal contract

Thiess has been awarded a $115 million contract for mining at Anglo American’s Dawson coal mine.

The two year agreement, an extension on its existing agreements, will see it provide services at the site’s southern pits.

Thiess was part of the mine’s original joint venture between Peabody and Mitsui in 1962, and has been carrying out its current mining services since 2005.

The latest agreement will see it continue providing overburden removal and coal mining.
