Terramin opens up

Terramin’s Angas Zinc Mine in South Australia will officially open in a ceremony hosted by the State’s Premier Mike Rann.

The local mining company has already exceeded expectations, making $1 million from the first concentrate sales of lead and precious metals last week.

“Angas is the first zinc mine to be established in Australia’s earliest metal mining belt and the first metal mine in the region for 40 years,” Terramin Executive Chairman, Dr Kevin Moriarty said.

Statistics estimate the mine will inject $30 m per year into the regional economy, and create more than

150 jobs.

Shipment of the first 5,000 tonnes of zinc concentrate with a current value of $4 million in revenue will occur a week later, well ahead of schedule.
