STAMPING a fire extinguisher incorrectly can adversely affect the extinguisher, according to safety authorities.
The Western Australia Department of Consumer and Employment Protection (DoCEP) safety and health alert [No. 1/2008] says incorrect stamping will weaken the extinguisher and cause stress raisers.
The report recommends only certified gas cylinder test stations that comply with Australian standard 2030.1 stamp the thickened portion of the cylinder.
